History

Sta. Cruz Elementary School is formerly known as Dasmariñas Bagong Bayan Elementary School-E (DBBES-E). It opened in August 1986 with DR. GREGORIA M. NONO as the pioneer principal with 2,027 enrollees and only eight (8) teachers. The school at that time had a pupil-teacher ratio of 253:1.It was quite normalized with the accommodation of sixty nine (69) teachers until 1990.

The reason for the increase in the school’s populace was the relocation of residents from Metro Manila. The three-year old school gained recognition in 1988-1989 in the Division and National Levels as the “Most Outstanding Extensive and Scientific Medical Garden”.

MRS. MARIA AMBATA from Amadeo, Cavite took over in 1990 with a school populace of 4,000. She initiated the construction of the Green House and put up and installed the school entrance gate which was donated by Mrs. Irene Gatil.

In 1991, DR. CRESENCIANA R. FANCUVILLA hailed as the 4th principal of DBBES-E. She pioneered the Pre-Elementary Education and had other academic achievements that led to her promotion as Assistant Schools Division Superintendent in Cavite City.

The vacancy in the position challenged MR. ALBINO VALENCIA during his initial year or while in his pioneering year as the school manager in May 1997 for a short period of time due to sudden death.

A native of Cavite City, MRS. ELENITA V. DINGLASAN headed S.Y. 1997-1998 occupying the position with thousand more enrollees. The extension of academic buildings from different sources, the realization of Multi-Purpose Hall and the unconditional performance-based attainment towards the mission-vision of the department contributed hugely to the perfection of the then – DBBES - E.

Before another phase of the educative process began, a 12-year old barrio school of Dasmariñas II District was headed by DR. EDNA C. PAPA- COIA from Paliparan Elementary School but a native of Indang, Cavite. During her term the teacher-pupil ratio was lowered to 1:51 and the number of teachers reached eighty eight (88). She renovated the Feeding Center and put up the Medicinal Garden. Remarkably, the school’s lyre band won coveted awards all in six categories bagging the Champion in the Division Lyre Band Competition.

MISS ELSA C. PAPA, a teacher of Salitran Elementary School followed her sister’s footsteps when she occupied the post as Teacher -In- Charge for a year. The installation of the path walk canopy fronting Grade VI and Grade V building, School Orchidarium and the steel fence around the covered court once known as the accomplishments sketched on her initial year as administrator.

Nevertheless, it was on August 24, 2001 when the school welcomed the school’s 8th principal, DR. EULALIA I. MARQUEZ, a Dasmarineño. She initiated the renovation of the School Library Media Center (SLMC), School Clinic, Hardin ng mga Bayani and manifestations of academic and non-academic success were spelled raised to the 10th power. One of the watchmen Welrick Manjeron was included in the list of employees under the Local School Board of the Municipality of Dasmariñas in 2001.

The acquisition of a two-room building from SM Prime Holdings Incorporated materialized in 2004 through the joint effort of Municipal Government headed by Mayor Elpidio Barzaga Jr. and Dr.Eulalia I. Marquez. In the succeeding year three more buildings were donated to the school by the Federation of the Filipino–Chinese Chambers of Commerce through the request of the above mentioned administrator.

The construction period was supervised by Mrs. Evangeline A. Duque, the school guidance counselor who became the

Teacher – In – Charge from Jan. 27, 2005 to April 24, 2005 when Dr. Marquez was promoted. Also, renaming of the school through a resolution from the Sangguniang Bayan from DBBES-E to Sta. Cruz Elementary School (SCES) took place.

Amidst the scorching heat of April 24 2005, 20 DepEd officials from the District of Imus I accompanied DR. EDNA A. BAYOT who occupied the position of Principal III. Mrs. Victoria U. Camañag, the District Supervisor, 10 school administrators, the School Guidance counselor and forty teachers welcomed the new school manager.

Moreover, the leadership of Dr. Edna A. Bayot brought recognitions and achievements with flying colors in almost every aspect. The renovation of the clinic, H. E, canteen, and roof (started on Sept. 13, 2006 and was completed on Nov. 13, 2005) in the 19 year old academic buildings I and II and School Library were few of the accomplishments in favor for the mentors and school children. The ground in front of the grade four building was cemented through the leadership teamed up with cooperation of the teachers and parents of SCES. Monobloc chairs, sports equipments and other office equipments were also procured keeping up the tally among those within her jurisdiction.

On March 24, 2008 around 102 mentors, 5,297 pupils and parents welcomed the 10th school manager, DR. EDITHA B. GREGORIO. She was successful in the conversion of the non-functional comfort rooms in Academic Building I and Academic Building II into functional Grade I and Grade IV classrooms.

Furthermore, the renovation of open-shelter in 2008 through her leadership was manpowered and soon occupied by at least four sections in Grade VI. Its features prompted the school leader to enclose it with Galvanized fence for the pupils’ safety. The flagpole’s frontal part where symbolism of an institution stood was landscaped along with the left side of the main gate. The concrete fence at the SpEd building was repainted, water connections were repaired and nursery garden were put up. The cleanliness of the school campus was maintained and her leadership spelled generosity in terms of hosting different trainings and seminars categorically. Construction of another two-storey four academic classrooms was left unfinished due to her promotion as district supervisor in Indang, Cavite but its completion was supervised by the succeeding principal.

Instead of accepting the district supervisor’s position. Three days after she was formally welcomed by the teachers, pupils and parents, 800 books were received which was donated by the Rotary Club of Dasmariñas. She initiated also the feeding program of the same month for the third graders who were recognized under the frustration level reading ability.

Additional related feeding paraphernalia was tapped including the appropriate allocation of canteen income. Medicines, computers, printer, sports and office equipment were procured. Several improvements were made like the renovation of the stage and the School Library Media Center. Gutter in Building 1, electrical, water and internet connections were repaired.

The re-launching of the feeding program thru City Mayor Jennifer A. Barzaga in 2010 was a success in her leadership. LAC Sessions in the different subject areas were conducted and teachers’ attendance to various seminars, symposium, training workshops led to improve their competence. She supported the Special Education (SpEd H.I.) program of the department initiated by Mrs. Nenita L. Sayarot, former district supervisor. Added interest to the achievement was the employment of Mrs. Rita Orebillo as utility personnel of SCES funded too by the LSB.

April 8, 2011 marked as one of the historical dates for SCES when MRS. THELMA B. BUENO promoted Principal IV opted to serve from her original position as a public teacher. She just ended her term then at Bautista Elementary School and now occupying the seat as 12th school leader. No new-fangled breakthroughs were set for some teachers hence, she was once with the company of the mentors since 1986 to 1998.

A fresh bath was an assumption for her but remains a speculation. The year was stirred with atwo-storey four-academic classroom building constructed in June 2011 and turned over in November 2011 categorized as DepEd Building A. This was funded by the national government in coordination primarily of Mrs. Gloria A. Catsao with 100% supervision of Mrs. Thelma B. Bueno. In addition, one-classroom school building was donated by the Rotary Club of Dasmariñas (RCD) through the leadership and initiative of Camp President Ranel A. Baybay. The construction took place in July, 2011 and turn over with simultaneous inauguration in October of the same year. The building was intended for Children With Special Needs (CWSN) such as - Hearing Impairment (H.I.), Down Syndrome (DS), Multiple Disabilities (MD) and related category. The provision of classroom is one of the advocacies of RCD. Recently, the SCES is now categorized in DepEd Region IV-A CALABARZON as STA. CRUZ ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SPED CENTER as approved by Regional Director Diosdado San Antonio signed March 6, 2014.

Numerous equipment were purchased for the pupil’s welfare. Ceilings and electrical connections in Grade II and V buildings and water installations were given utmost attention. Steel matting from the School Garden of Knowledge and Ecology Museum was installed in grades III, IV and on top of the perimeter fence of the school for security reasons. Path walk canopy in Grade VI was repainted. Window grills in the Guidance Office were installed.

The newly constructed two-storey eight classroom classified as the Public-Private Partnership Infrastructure Project (3Ps) turned over by DepEd on October 25, 2013 in front of the Multi-Purpose Hall is sketched to the latter school manager's effort to accommodate the continuous increase of school population of around 7,500 School Year 2013-2014.

Replacement of around 50 toilet bowls of the Grade V and VI rooms which served as billeting of Dasmarinas City and Cavite City delegations during the Regional Schools Press Conference 2014 (Dasmarinas City as host division) was a success output through Adopt A School Program (ASP). The HOCHENG Corporation at Dasmarinas City, Cavite has a big heart for this kind of generosity in response with DepEd Annual Brigada Eskwela SY 2013-2014.

Another sponsorship showered to some of the clientele wherein the two-year School Feeding Program was enormously a successful one to the severely wasted pupils thus improved the learning skills of these recipients.

Moreover, new set of computers was received by SCES-5 monitors and 1 CPU from the City Government Unit headed by Hon. Jennifer A. Barzaga.

Ten complete sets of computer was received also by the school from Rotary Club in March 2014. This support the Computer Education enveloped in the Basic Education Curriculum.

Still to date, absolute transformation of the 28 year old Guidance Center was completely realized in connection with the Division Search for Outstanding Guidance Office and Services. The purpose was achieved excellently hence, the school was awarded Best in Guidance Services & Best in Facilities and definitely garnered Champion from the stake of updating avenues in the school to division categories. Championing was not as easy as it was when 100% cooperation was designed and desired. The supervision was managed strictly by the two Guidance Counselors Mrs. Norma R. Esguerra for Intermediate Level and Mrs. Nona V. Bay in Primary Level. Closed supervision revealed the catered silhouette of the managerial and instructional aspect headed by the principal herself MRS. THELMA B. BUENO together with the guidance of MRS. ELOISA CARRANZA, Division Coordinator of this category.

The renovation of the school clinic was a manifestation of healthy improvement in any manner. In addition, the construction of the three seater Comfort Room adjacent to the backdrop was her initiative utilizing the MOOE fund (three bowls) due to the upcoming national and local election then in 2013 and the rest from national fund when Atty. Ramos, the election

officer justified the construction by adding railings for the Persons With Disabilities(PWD).

On May 15, 2013, twenty – five (25) new extension positions were accommodated having 5 designated in the Pre elementary education

and another item as head teacher occupied by Mrs. Nieves Bantog. For an update, the school has a total 0f 156 teaching staff.

Now, the Construction of 2 units T3-3 Seater (1B-1G-1PWD) With Handwashing Facility and Septic Vault and Type 1 Steel Water Tank through Fe S. Reyes Construction as contractor amounting to Php 946,827.21. Its implementing agency is DPWH-CDEO-Trece Martirez City. Source of fund is the DepEd. The renovation of the two-storey Academic Building II spells as the on - going activity since January to March 2014 with a work duration of 60 days funded by the national government through her leadership.

School’s participant-contestants in the different competitions in all subject areas of any level bagged major awards or recognitions. Teachers’ participation for outstanding recognition outwitted the fear as nominee when Mrs. Daisy B. Crema won Division Outstanding Teacher in consonance with the simultaneous World Teachers’ Day (WTD) celebration including 2nd Place in Regional Research Competition. Triple wins was posted in Campus Journalism with Mrs. Elena S. Ogena from division to national level as Most Outstanding School Paper Adviser in 2011-2012 and Division 2nd Place Outstanding Teacher for (WTD) of the same school year. Mrs. Melgie Valizado was a nominee on the same category while Mrs. Ailyn P. Magdato in the Search for Outstanding SPED teacher of the Rotary Club. On the other hand, Vianne Yzabelle L. Redoblado received the same recognition with the SPA in the succeeding year 2012-2013, the first - ever tandem wins in the history of Campus Journalism of SPA.

The school reaped Third Place in the council wide Search for Best Vegetable Garden in Pots or Plotsfor the Girl Scout of the Philippines (GSP).

In compliance with the National Greening Program promoting environment friendly through planting trees in the campus was intensively supervised by the Agriculture Teacher Mr. Beinvenido Abaño and Mrs. Bueno among EPP pupils in Grades IV-to VI.

School Year 2015-2016, Mrs. Nieves L. Bantog serves as Head Teacher III/OIC in lieu of the promotion of former principal IV of Sta. Cruz Elementary School Mrs. Thelma B. Bueno to District Supervisor of District VI.
